Inspire International’s Economically Sustainable Model for Church Planting and Eradicating Extreme Poverty Inspire
International has developed a model for economic development that has
the potential to bring millions of the most disadvantaged out of
extreme poverty. The Inspire model utilizes our Bible based audio and
literacy programs as the designed vehicle to motivate entire villages
to work together to eliminate extreme poverty within a period of seven
years. This curriculum includes life-skills in the areas of personal
hygiene and community health, economics and basic business skills,
personal finance, as well as character and spiritual development. Sharing
Christ and Community Development come together in this model with the
goal of freeing people from the bondage of spiritual darkness,
illiteracy, and extreme poverty. Faithful stewardship of all resources
- money, mind, body and spirit - ties the different elements of
development into this wholesome model. Our goal is to move extremely
poor communities from dependency to self sustainability. The church
will be the catalyst that initiates and sustains the vision for
eradicating extreme poverty and developing whole villages. The 7 Year Process & Outcome: Year 1:
Church planters are cross trained over a one year period to serve as
the key leaders to promote adult literacy educators, community health
workers, and economic educators. Year 2:
Teams of Church Planters and Adult Education Animators recruit two
hundred and fifty village adults in each area to begin an adult
literacy program. Every student is encouraged to bring a rupee every
day, and this saving receives a matching grant. A 4th grade level of
education is achieved. Year 3:
English is introduced and the level of proficiency in reading and
writing is increased to a 6th grade level. The matching grant scheme of
savings continues. At each level both economic and stewardship
education form part of the core curriculum. Year 4:
Business and Micro enterprise is taught and the community learns to
become a micro lending organization. By this time the community would
have saved a sum of $8000. Year 5:
The community establishes cooperative societies, learns to market its
products and increases the flow of money within the community. Years 6 & 7:
We capitalize and build on the leadership and achievements of the
Church Planter and community leaders. The Churches are now equipped to
take this self sustainable model to other un-reached communities. Kingdom Outcomes:
Over 20 years of experience suggests that 25% of our adult literacy
students come to Christ forming prayer cells, creating home churches,
and finally founding a village church. Our minimum goal is to bring 15%
of every village to Christ. This will establish the necessary tipping
point in the economic, social, and spiritual ethos of the community to
create permanent change. |
